2021 crop production numbers are in, and Illinois posted record-breaking yields, per the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service. Illinois produced the second-most corn in the nation last year, trailing only Iowa. Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener says the estimated yield was 202 bushels per acre, and total production was estimated at 2.19 billion bushels. Illinois topped the nation in soybean production, averaging 64 bushels per acre and totaling 672.6 million bushels. The Cisne Village Board met Monday night and swore in Rick Powell as a new board member. The board then approved a new contract with Sunrise Sanitation until 2026; the new price will be $12.25 per resident instead of $9.75, and the new fee will appear on residents' next bill. The board also approved a $500 donation to the family of Wayne County Deputy Sean Riley. The Wayne County Board will meet tonight at 7 in the county courthouse. The Fairfield Kiwanis Club will hold its 25th Lighted Christmas Parade on December 4th, in conjunction with the City of Fairfield and the Wayne County Board. The parade will begin at 5 p.m. on the normal route, and the entry deadline is tomorrow (November 24). Invitations and forms have been mailed out, but anyone who hasn't received one can contact Terry Prizer at seprizer@gmail.com or pick one up at the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce office or any bank in Fairfield or Wayne City. The Greater Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce will hold the annual Senior Citizen's Light Tour on December 13th. Early voting is underway at the Wayne County Courthouse, and County Clerk Liz Ann Woodrow said, as of this morning, 46 people had either requested a mail-in ballot or had voted early. She says voter turnout was 13 percent in 2019, and she hopes to have a much better turnout this year with so many seats being contested, including many road commissioners, school boards, and Fairfield and Cisne mayors. According to a Facebook post, Fairfield Printing and Graphics is officially closed and will not take any orders, answer phone calls, or answer emails. The shop will have a going out of business sale tomorrow and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and sales will be cash-only and final. Meridian Waste Closes Sunrise Sanitation Acquisition

Feb 05, 2021 GREENVILLE, S.C. – Meridian Waste, an integrated, non-hazardous solid waste services company, announced today it closed on the purchase of Sunrise Sanitation in the greater Greenville, S.C., marketplace, thereby expanding operations to the company’s seventh state.  The acquisition includes the assets of Sunrise Sanitation, Inc. located in Easley, S.C. The terms of the purchase agreement remain private. This marks Meridian Waste’s first acquisition within South Carolina and the fourteenth acquisition since the company transitioned to private stock under the ownership of Warren Equity Partners (WEP) in April 2018. The Sunrise Sanitation acquisition includes residential subscription and commercial contracts in Anderson and Greenville Counties, S.C.  The frontline team members of Sunshine Sanitation remain with Meridian Waste team ensuring a seamless transition and quality service.
