Roanoke county police are still piecing together what happened after confirming that a man was shot by an officer. At 7 15 last night, they received a call that a man wearing a bandanna and hoodie was waving a gun off of route 419. We spoke with a witness who made the call to police. He says he was driving when he saw the man. Thomas gill, witness i saw his gun in the right hand. So he was waving it at cars and he turned around and he was waving it at me so i turned around and took a left and i called 911. Amy whittaker, Roanoke County spokesperson officers then arrived on scene and they confronted the suspect which is just up the road from walgreens parking officer involved shooting that took place. The suspect was transported to the hospital. We do not know the persons condition right now. That witness tells us he heard at least five shots but its not clear who fired all of them.
