morning and then cleared the scene. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. the virginia house gop is rolling out its education agenda. the plans were announced at a news conference in richmond this morning. the house gop speaker william j. howell says he supports a major amendment to the virginia constitution aimed at promoting charter schools. republicans have previously supported legislation that would provide greater funding and state support for charter schools. democratic lawmakers say the measure could hurt traditional public schools. deputies just outside of richmond are looking for a suspect they say kidnapped his former mother-in law. the amelia county sheriff s office says olene brooks was taken from her home on thursday. her husband was killed after the suspect apparently broke into their home. other people in the home were zip- tied, duct-taped, and held hostage at gun point for hours, before the suspect took off with brooks. authorities say the sus
