morning. most of the fires were near park street. the flames set in dumpsters, cars and trash piles. one building was red tagged. another was a restaurant about to have its grand opening. i am stunned that anybody could do this to us or anybody else. i don t know what they, you know, how or what they get out of this devastation they cause people. no word yet on what motivated the two men facing charges in the fires. police say gutierrez is a transient. the suspects are accused of setting eight fires, damaging or destroying five businesses in alameda. ride sharing companies accused of mishandling safety requirements could face serious legal action. today is the deadline for the companies to respond to a letter from the da s office. they say uber, lyft, and side car are misleading customers into believing their drivers have been screened. other accusations include hired drivers with drug violations and assault crimes. this is really about trying to strike a balanc ....
