There has been a demand, among fans of a certain Louisiana-style pop-up restaurant working out of the kitchen at Zeitgeist Arts Cafe, to bring out the beignets.

Robert Lee, the southern-raised creative behind Gumbo Boi, is serving a one-day-only brunch as part of the upcoming offerings for Eat Downtown the Greater Downtown Council’s take on restaurant week and the French powder sugar covered donuts are on the menu alongside crepes, shrimp and grits, and po’boys.

Downtown traffic increases
A larger number of parked vehicles were observed on Minnesota Street Monday as a number of restaurants reopened with restrictions according to Minnesotaâs Stay Safe Plan.
NEW ULM A number of New Ulm restaurants reopened for dine-in business with limitations Monday as Minnesota’s Stay Safe Plan went into effect at midnight, Jan. 11.
Changes included opening bars and restaurants at 50% capacity, with a maximum of 150 people. Parties of no more than six people must remain six feet from other parties; bar seating is open to parties of two; reservations are required; and establishments must close between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.

NEW ULM Local bar and restaurant owners reacted favorably to Minnesota’s Stay Safe Plan announced by Gov. Walz Jan. 6.

“Fantastic. That’s a good start. I’m looking forward to it,” said Lamplighter Sports Bar & Grill co-owner Herb Knutson. “I think that’s something we can live with and go from there, with restrictions improving along the way. We’re excited to reopen so we can see our customers again. They’ve shown a lot of support and we appreciate it.”
On Dec. 16, Gov. Tim Walz issued Executive Order 20-103 extending and modifying the previous four-week dial back on certain activities, set to expire Dec. 18. In accordance with this executive order to slow the spread of COVID-19, St. Louis Park parks and recreation facilities and programs will begin operating as follows beginning Saturday, Dec. 19:
⢠Outdoor ice rinks will open when ice is safe for skating. Crews have been working since mid-December to flood the rinks; temperatures will affect when safe ice is available for skating.
⢠Warming houses will not be open. Benches will be placed outside warming houses for rink users.
