A wrongful death lawsuit is being filed in federal court in the case of 13yearold andy lopez. He was carrying a fake gun when he was shot and killed by a Sonoma County sheriffs deputy. Lz also alex savidge has more. Reporter andy lopezs parents called the shooting unreasonable and unjustified. Today here in San Francisco, the family filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the deputy who opened fire on that teenager as he was holding a replica assault rifle. Nearly two weeks after andy lopez was shot and killed by a Sonoma County sheriffs deputy, a federal lawsuit claims his death was unconstitutional. Lopez was carrying a replica of a gun that turned out to be a bb gun. Gelhaus shot lopez seven times. The lawsuit claims he was walking with the toy gun and had his back to the deputy who ordered him to drop the weapon. T ....
