good morning, everyone. so glad you re with us on this monday. israel s military says another evacuation corridor in northern gaza is open for the next several hours. it is unclear if and how far that announcement is known, though, without any cell service or internet connectivity. and new this morning, further exchanges of fire reported across the israel/lebanon border. the israeli defense forces say two mortars launched from lebanon landed in open territory in northern israel on monday. and also overnight, the u.s. did carry out a new round of air strikes against iran-backed targets in eastern syria. defense secretary lloyd austin says those strikes targeted a safe house. officials believe that they re responsible for at least 60 rocket strikes against u.s. personnel in iraq and syria since october 17th. this comes as fighting intensifies in gaza. the medical system there, it s collapsed. some of the images you re about to see, i want to warn you, are disturbing. hospit
announcer: this is cnn breaking news. this is cnn news central. we do win with breaking news this hour, at least three suspects are at large after secret service agents opened fire on suspects that they say were breaking into an unmarked government vehicle. it happened late last night. let s get to the white house. priscilla alvarez has more details on what is actually happening here, tell us. this is a detail for niaomi biden, an agent involved in the incident, according to a source familiar. in this statement from the secret service they said the following, on november 12th, around 11:58 p.m. in the georgetown neighborhood of washington, d.c. secret service agents encountered possibly three individuals breaking a window on a parked and unoccupied government vehicle. the statement goes on to say during this encounter a federal agent discharged a service weapon, and it is believed no one was struck. again, according to a source familiar this was an agent involved with n
civilians as human shields, that uses civilian infrastructure, even hospitals, in the most cynical way possible. that is as fighting positions, as military operation centers. and so israel has to confront that while at the same time not wanting to go assaulting hospitals in fire fights that could put innocent people who are getting life saving medical care in the cross fire. so there are not easy answers to this question, but this is the complexity, this is the burden that the israeli defense forces are facing as they conduct their operations. and our position is that israel has the right to go after hamas. but it does face this added burden, and that burden does not lessen its responsibility to act according to the laws of war, and so how that plays out in a particular operational dynamic, ultimately those decisions lie with the military fighting. even as israel goes after hamas and the tools and infrastructure of its terrorism. reporter: do you have any proof of life on h
