Darker the blue, the heavier the snow fall, i want to point out we have a warm front to the south. This will create issues depending on how quickly it moves across the area, as it move across anything that falls is likely to transition from snow to freezing rain. That is where the concerns are where ice builds up on the road, look at west of us, we saw rain, we have sleet, freezing rain and snow, waiting to move in, overnight into through the day tomorrow. Just want to take a quick look. At on the future cast, 7 27 in the morning, i am not expecting a ton of snow fall, atthispoint light snow potential, possibly sleet, freezing rain, biggest concern is Early Morning hours, whatever ice. You could see icing issues in Early Morning, then clears out to the noon, and a break before a transdoing rain later transition into rain all right. Thank you. We will always keep you plugged into weather conditions just head to fox46charlotte. Com find the weather tab or download our weather app in the
Precaution. Yeah it is a good thing. Im tracking the quiet conditions for the most part. Had light drizzle here an hour ago. As we arent seeing much of a wintery concern here this morning for the morning drive as originally thought. As you mentioned. D. O. T. Trucks were out in full force making sure anything that did fall this morning wouldnt lead to treacherous driving conditions. We caught up with a few of the tricks late last night setting down the brine, the salt. Making sure the roads were treated enough. Weve been talking with mark taylor. A couple of accidents out here early this morning and out here live, right above 277, the brookshire, travel looks decent. Were tracking everyone going out or just below the speed limit. We had light drizzle out here early this morning. Well keep an eye on the conditions out here this morning. Keith mentioned the chance for freezing rain as we head throughout the lunch time and afternoon continues. Although the travel conditions may not be too
Roads are treacherous right now. Some drivers losing control of their cars while going just 15 to 20 miles per hour. The d. O. T. Here at Catawba County is putting sand and salt down along with some brine on some of the over passes and some of the problem areas where theyve had accidents. We talked with one driver who wrecked this morning about these conditions. This guy we saw a bunch of guys fish tailing. Its ridiculous. People need to slow down. Take it slow. If you dont have to go out today, dont go out. Its not worth it. Reporter i think the hardest thing is for folks, when they step outside, they look and they see grass, they see wet roads, the roads have a lot of black ice. The key into the afternoon is the temperature. Right now were holding in the mid 20s. Hopefully itll rise later this evening and get above the freezing mark. Reporting live from hickory, dave faherty, channel 9 Eyewitness News. All right dave. Thank you. Were keeping a close eye on the roads across the area.
Shelby, lincolnton, hickory, statesville, and it will be a couple more hours before the temperatures rise enough that its just rain. Thats not good news. Heres heavier rain pushing up the i85 corridor. Heres the 32degree line. You can see it shaded in blue, and the precipitation is falling. Everywhere you can see the pink, temperatures at or below freezing. 12 00a. M. , finally the steadier rain falls, and temperatures above freezing, and heavier rain through the charlotte area, 3 00 to 4 00 a. M. , and the good news t moves in, and it moves out. Its pretty much done by the morning drive, and as far as additional ice accumulation, its not really focused in the charlotte area this time. The focus is north of town. North of i40 into the foothills and mountains, and we could see at least another tenth of an inch of freezing rain. Thank you, steve. Breaking news for you right now, north of statesville, i77 is now closed in both directions, and we have several reopen until 1 00 a. M. , and

Biggest issue is cold temperatures, we had the freeze watch in effect across the metro area and frost advisory to the east of us. Of course temperatures will continue to fall this morning, right up until about sunrise, 7 30. At the moment at 39 here in charlotte, most of the outlying areas are very close to freezing. Below freezing in morganton, 32 shelby, lancaster and wadesboro, 31 albermarle, 34 gastonia, 33 statesville, a cold start, this morning, dry, good visibility in charlotte, may have to have scrape frost but other than that, we have a nice day on the way because this day will be very nice temperature turn around. Well go from 35 at 8 00 to 68 this aft
