I have been told by oakland fire chief that hole is five or six feet deep. The rescuer went down there in a harness and down there for about 15 minutes or so. And then he came back out. He got some more equipment and came back down in the hole 20 minutes ago and down there ever since. They have a giant vacuum sucking dirt. Oakland fire says the man is alert and has been talking. We dont know the extent of his injuries. Certainly he has to be uncomfortable in this situation. There is Oakland Fire Department gurney that has been pulled up next to the hole.
