Ethan Ellison was said to have taken part in the Court Link program designed to help defendants tackle the issues that often underlie their offending. After completing the program with positive results, Ethan Ernest Ellison, 27, from Bundamba, pleaded guilty in Ipswich Magistrates Court to eight charges including possession of the drug ice; driving when drug positive; three charges of stealing; possession of a knife; possession of property suspected of being used in a drug offence; and failing to appear at court.

Dog squad sniffs out police evader

Going before Ipswich Magistrates Court for sentence, Aiden Michael Kinnane, 28, pleaded guilty to nine charges with eight of them occurring on February 11 this year. The charges include failing to stop for police; evading police; driving when drug positive; dangerous operation of a motor vehicle when adversely affected; obstruct police; trespass; and two counts of driving when disqualified. Kinnane appeared from jail via video-link having spent 91 days in custody since his arrest.

Thieves net $25,000 in cigarette smash and grab

Premium Content Subscriber only A ROSEWOOD man who climbed onto a roof of a stranger s house and began throwing down roof tiles also took part in service station break-ins that netted in excess of $25,000 in cigarettes. Appearing for sentence from jail via video-link, Troy John Currey, 33, pleaded guilty in Ipswich Magistrates Court to 16 offences including enter premises and stealing, serious assault; receiving; going armed in public; wilful damage; driving when disqualified; and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. Prosecutor Sergeant Molinaro said Currey was serving a jail sentence but was set for release in July. Sgt Molinaro said there were nine pages of written facts and she tended nine photographs relating to the offences.

Stephanie-Dawn Mackenzie’s defence lawyer was at loss to explain her actions when appearing before the Ipswich Magistrates Court for sentence. Mackenzie, 24, from Goodna, pleaded guilty to 11 charges including nine charges of stealing and two for failing to appear at court. She appeared from jail via video-link. Prosecutor Sergeant Molinaro said Mackenzie was stealing items that were not essential, including dresses, wine, mirrors, jewellery and cosmetics. “She was wearing some of the stolen items when spoken to by police,” Sgt Molinaro said.

Alcohol major problem for woman who assaulted paramedic, police, nurse

Nearly three years after the first of the drunken incidents, Christine Gillies went before Ipswich Magistrates Court for sentence. Christine Estelle Gillies, 41, from Atkinsons Dam, pleaded guilty to nine offences including two charges of serious assault/resist public officers while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance; serious assault public officer performing public function by spitting when adversely affected; assaulting a police officer; contravene a police direction; possession of dangerous drugs; possession of drug utensils; and committing public nuisance.
