With the black boys, you know. The black boys not players so im not going to make it there. I kept playing and playing. I said one day im going to play baseball. Tonights last word. The 11th hour with Brian Williams starts right now. Tonight, the president swears he did not know about that Trump Tower Meeting in advance, while someone close to Michael Cohen tells vanity fair cohen is sitting on top of a Treasure Trove of damaging information and theres a lot more to come. Wolf Blitzer looks at politics, breaking news and international stories. Historically, because a lot of our viewers will remember. When you and bob woodward were working on the watergate related stories, was president nixon as anxious publicly during your reporting as we now see this president being very anxious, deeply concerned about the Mueller Probe . First, i think what were seeing is more than anxiety on the part of donald trump. We are seeing a president who is behaving and acting unhinged. Nixon did not really publicly act unhinged, but i think we need to look at something larger. That is that in watergate, the system worked. The president of the United States did not publicly declare the press an enemy of the people and seek to undermine the First Amendment and the very legitimacy of what the press did, though he ....
Chris Cuomo asks the tough questions to newsmakers in Washington and around the world. Rosenstein look, Jeff Sessions he recused himself. Had to have recused himself because theres a regulation in place that says if you work on a campaign and theres a criminal investigation relating to that campaign the president says it was a bum move and he should have told him about it and it was a total hoodwink. Wrong, wrong, wrong. As far as it being a hoodwink, sessions would have had to have had the gift of prophecy along with the president in order to believe at the time he was ainterest poed, there was was going to be to an investigation thats why i was confused by your initial writings on this one because of my respect for your mind and that rosenstein the only thing he could do is get a prophylactic in play, get somebody who had one layer away from the president , which technically a ....
The fact is that we dont need a direction from the president to the intelligence chiefs to be on guard against russian interference with our elections, number one. Number two, as far as what the president says on any given day, frankly he says a lot of things. He is, i think, campaigning against impeachment rather than saying anything that is designed to affect the outcome of the case. So i kind of brush that off. But to go back to your first point, that we dont need the president for the intelligence community. Thats a little counterintuitive. We expect the leadership from the president to be of paramount importance when were dealing with threats like this, which to the democracy is basically existential. So for him to not be on the same page seems to be highly counterproductive. Its counterproductive, but it is not at all necessarily critical. These intelligence agencies, particularly in an administration where statements
get made all the time, i think are pretty much doing their job ....
