some side streets mights be icy and even in places where you salted last night you might find that the impact of the ice was so significant that you still have a freeze-up. icy sidewalks and icy windshields combine to make it not a great morning walk for the kids to the bus stop. 31 degrees by 6:00 a.m., 32 by 8:00 a.m. so the ice probably doesn t break up much between that time period and i mentioned icy windshields because sometimes people just make a little hole and they try and drive like that makes it harder to see kids entering and exiting the streets. satellite shows you there s some cloud cover out there but it is breaking up and we expect a fair amount of sunshine overall today. 29 degrees right now in philadelphia, though, below freezing. winds out of the southwest at 8 miles per hour. and here are your numbers across the region. obviously anybody who saw freezing rain halfway up camden county salem county burlington county and points north still have the ice on the
at times. it s doing so right now. i showed you a shot a minute ago and police hadn t arrived on the accident scene yet. they were kind of stuck in the traffic there in the backlog but we can see now police, several police officers, emergency workers all responding to the scene. it looks to be at least three vehicles as i look at this. a few vehicles here and i m not sure if that s one or two cause it s kind of dark right there. we can see they re currently blocking all lanes on the schuylkill westbound as emergency workers come to the scene to deal with this. this is westbound schuylkill at university avenue. our breaking news. a big accident involving several vehicles blocking all lanes and now we see emergency workers at the scene, some of them still in the backlog here trying to get there. looks like we have an ambulance here as well trying to deal with this scene blocking all lanes on the schuylkill westbound at university. traffic at a standstill. we re seeing speeds c
we have a big accident at university avenue. i showed you this shot earlier. we had westbound completely blocked, eastbound almost completely blocked with this accident. it s a different scene now. we can see they ve pushed most of the vehicles off to the side. it was a multi-vehicle accident as chopper pans back you see what a tough morning commute it is. this delay stretches for miles and you re not expecting this kind of delay westbound headed towards university city coming off of the walt whitman bridge. traffic is barely moving because of that accident. the good news is the accident that was blocking all lanes for awhile is off to the side now and eastbound traffic is also getting by so you re stuck in the traffic now but there s light at the end of the tunnel there because they re allowing it to move at the scene. let s switch to our traffic cameras and you get a different sense of what s happening here. so, here s that jammed traffic on the schuylkill westbound at univ
here. as we take a look at the weather sent you have cloud cover out there obviously and you can see the movement of that snow overnight and now it s pushing right into philadelphia. it was raining here for awhile but we ve seen that change over to snow and storm tracker6 live double scan gives you an even better look at that. you can see that the dry slots that karen mentioned are beginning to push in and be a little bit of a issue or well a nonissue if you will up in northern montgomery county northern bucks county now has transitioned to that break in the snow but we still have north and west some brighter banding there which is one last little pop of heavier snow that will probably pop through allentown and reading before too much longer. i ll go in closer there and these are the areas where you ve gotten most of the snow overnight. there s probably at least a couple of inches on the ground in most of these areas. the only report i have recent is from north catasauqua nor
