The worst of the current storm is behind Stockton and San Joaquin County, but there’s more rain to come.
According to the National Weather Service, rains will continue through Thursday night and likely into Friday morning, but without the strong winds that caused damage and power outages earlier in the week.
“The folks in Stockton are still in the rainband,” said Karl Swanberg, a forecaster with the NWS in Sacramento. “There will be some wind, but not like it was the other evening.”
Heavy rains soaked the area on Tuesday evening and flooded streets, and wind gusts between 51-58 mph knocked over trees and damaged structures. As of Thursday afternoon, Pacific Gas and Electric Co. reported power outages were still impacting 6,500 customers in Stockton. ....

Thousands of people were still without power in Stockton and San Joaquin County Wednesday after a powerful storm brought rain and howling winds through the region.
On Wednesday morning, some local residents took advantage of a break in the storm to begin cleaning up. Alexis Villa of Stockton, who lives on El Camino Avenue in north Stockton, was sweeping up the debris and assessing the damage.
She said a couple of fence boards were blown off, a branch from a neighbor s tree hit her car and a canopy in her backyard was bent.
Not too bad. I ve seen worse, Villa said. Two years ago (during a storm) a tree came down and landed right on the stop sign. ....

Amador County man sought on suspicion of murder after grisly discovery

WEST POINT A 44-year-old Amador County man is being sought in connection to the homicide of a missing local woman whose remains were discovered last weekend in Calaveras County, authorities said.
The Amador County Sheriff s Office has issued a warrant for the arrest of Jerry Lee Adams Jr. of Pine Grove on suspicion of the murder of Savana Lee Burger, 27, also of Pine Grove. Burger disappeared in October, and her remains were discovered last week near West Point in Calaveras County.
Amador County deputies responded to a missing persons report filed by Burger’s mother on Oct. 23. Her mother was concerned because her daughter had missed an important court date. Deputies were able to determine that Burger was last in the area of West Point through cellphone data, the Amador County Sheriff s Office said. ....
