However, most of the activities happening out in front of this so folks across Southern California are already really in it as they experience some pretty strong gusts at times and certainly that heavy rain. These are some of the gusts weve seen thus far, these are all Higher Elevations. So right around san diego, los angeles theyre not seeing winds like this. But Higher Elevations look at some of these numbers, 60s, 70s, 80s with the ground saturated likely some tr
impact our community. it is going to do so in different ways depending if you are on the west side of our community or the east side of our community. as such we have taken steps to prepare two extra personnel, x-ray equipment, pre-positions around the county. in assisting with sand piles and sandbags throughout the county. jon: bakersfield is your big city as you mentioned you have got a huge area to cover. you must have some mountainous terrain and canyons on surreal worries about flash flooding and they are? absolutely we have significant concerns because we have a lot of mountain communities. and many of those areas have had fires in recent years which leaves the burn scars and soil that is susceptible to erosion. we have a number of canyons and we had the desert out in eastern kern as well. much of the kern county area is
water arrive yet here within to issue evacuations. but we ve been communicating with the community over the last several days, and preparing them for the potential for evacuation should they be needed. jon: so you think people are taking this seriously? i do. actually, we ve had quite a few sand bags that we have been handing out and sand piles that have been diminishing yesterday in our city s sand lot we handed other 12,000 sand bags and the community actually came out in rallied around themselves. they were out each other. they were helping out our population, and making sure that they were getting their sand bags filled and put into their cars. so it was very refreshing to see that the community is actually listening. and are taking the necessary precautionary measures to be ready for this impact. jon: you re the emergency manager there. but you haven t had this kind of an emergency in close to 90 years. how do you how do you handle it?
