we were the first to bring you the news on kcci eight news this morning, and now we are learning more about the man involved. police say the chase ended around 3:30 this morning. that is when they arrested this man, 31-year-old sean phelan. police say it started when an officer tried to pull phelan over for a traffic violation, then took off, swerving in and out of lanes and running stop signs. police say phelan ditched his vehicle on scott street and ran. that s when the k-9 unit tracked him down on se 4st and mlk. he was transported the hospital with small abrasions. police say phelan was wanted by the bureau of alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives regarding a warrant for his arrest relating to firearms. the iowa state patrol is releasing information about another high speed chase. this one happening just after midnight near the east mixmaster. authorities say 28-year-old on the shoulder of the eastbound lane of i-80 and took off when a trooper went to approach the veh
reality of a life lost. little bit earlier this afternoon. marcus mcintosh. stacey: new information in an overnight chase where des moines police used a k9 to catch a man. it started before 3:00 in the morning south of downtown. the pursuit lasted nearly a half hour. it finally ended when the man ditched his vehicle and tried to run. the k9 caught the man at southeast 4th and mlk. 37-year-old shaun phelan of des moines was wanted by the atf on a warrant of felon in possession he also faces charges from the chase. new at 5:00 a 28-year-old man , faces 16 charges in connection with a chase on interstate-80 early this morning. the iowa state patrol says james earl overton took off when a trooper tried to stop him. troopers say at one point overton was driving on the wrong side of the interstate. overton started running on foot after a trooper performed a pit maneuver on his car. he was arrested and taken to the polk county jail. steve: new information about those toilet paper ba
i can picture it but it s not a good picture. mark: at his weekly news conference, governor branstad did not say whether he would support an iowa utilities board ruling that would allow dakota access to use eminent domain to take private land along the 348 mile route through iowa. they re not taking the land, they re only using the land to put a pipeline through and we ve had thousands of miles of pipeline put through the state. mark: dakota access claims it has signed easements with well over half the landowners on the pipeline route but plenty of holdouts remain. it kind of makes me angry that they can push us around like that, an out of state for-profit-company can come in and take our land, it s just not right. mark: the iowa utilities board will rule whether dakota access can use eminent domain. their final decision is expected within the next 3 months. but first, they will hold a series of public hearings the invited to comment, is november boone county fairground
