Washington, Kinston receive grants to attract new jobs, draw investment

Hendersonville business owner named NC 2020 Main Street Champion

Hendersonville business owner named NC 2020 Main Street Champion Hendersonville Times-News Michele Sparks, owner of Art Mob Studios & Marketplace in downtown Hendersonville, has been named a North Carolina 2020 Main Street Champion. Sparks was one of 38 volunteers recognized by the state s Main Street Program for their commitment to downtown revitalization and strong communities during a virtual recognition ceremony on March 11, according to a city news release.  Sparks opened her business in 2011 as an outlet for artisans to sell their work. She began representing 25 artists and now represents 86 from across Western North Carolina. Sparks has been involved in every area of downtown, from volunteering with events like Rhythm & Brews to organizing the Art on Main festival and supporting the ArtScape outdoor art gallery program, the release states.
