Were in the vehicles, even when you see the pictures, its pretty horrific. At this point nobody in any of the vehicles is a fate a. The trains new route is part of a 18 l 30 million project designed to speed up service and bypass traffic. Amtrak says the new tracks were tested out just before that first run and right now officials, including the National Transportation safety board are investigating what us contacted the train to go off its tracks. Theyre actuallien route as we speak. Of course we will let you know what comes out of that investigation. Again, like we mentioned, six people on board that train were killed and Officials Say they expect that number to go up. Happened a little before kw8 this morning about 40 miles south of seattle. About 80 people were on board that amtrak train at the time and the train itself was moving at about 80 Miles Per Hour Officials Say and heading to portland. Dozens were taken to the hospital, including people who were hit while driving on the highway. You could see right there just how many emergency crew vehicles were out there today helping out victims, not to mentions a you just saw several of those passenger cars just dangling there over the overpass. When we got to the scene, it was obvious that there were some fatalities and a lot of injuries and some people were able to get off the train. Multiple cars and struck were struck by train cars that evident there the train tracks and went down on to the road. Good morning. Fire forces several people from their homes overnight. Investigators are trying to find out if it was a firework that caused this. The race to the finish in the police and fire world games as they will come to a close and we will have a live report. One officer spotted the shooter and opened fire. Reporter Vincente Montano had been arrested once before. The individual had an arrest in 2004 for assault and resisting arrest. Reporter the 29yearold had a history of significant psychiatric issue. His mother says he was a diagnosed schizophrenic. He showed up here armed with a pellet gun and a hatchet. Me also had on a surgical mask, possibly to protect himself from the pupper spray. He was shot and killed by the s. W. A. T. Team. Authorities later detonated one of the backpacks he was carrying. There were items in there we think were made to resemble a hoax device, however, after detonating it, it turned tout be pardon meful. Reporter this man thanked police for the quick response. It gives me faith in humanity again. Reporter police do not have a motive for the attack. Police looked in his second bag and said nothing harmful was found inside.
