Thieves. Reporter you see the campus is dark. The campus is still shut down and there were four people who were hurt earlier. All of them will be okay. There were another 20 people trapped in elevators. They have been freed. And it is all because people dug copper wiring right out of the ground. Panic on the campus of uc berkeley this evening. This video was shot of thick smoke pouring out of the ground. An electrical explosion sent flames shooting out of the ground. A fire ball erupted. The building was intect but the fire ball was two times the height of the building. Reporter students tweeted out pictures of the explosion which hurt four people nearby. But none of them were seriously hurt. An emergency has been declared. Reporter police kept the campus shut down all evening with power out virtually everywhere. The power went out two hours before the explosion. Students were using cell phones to light up the room. The power outage and dangerous explosion were likely caused by vandals

And they even say are we sitting on a problem. Because of the homes sitting here, the state of emergency has been declared. Tonight the city council met during an emergency meeting and asked for the shut down. And the judge agreed and ordered that it be shut down in a safe and effective manner. We talked to people at the park right on britton avenue as well as the mayor of san carlos to get their opinions. Obviously, peoples safety comes first. Right now it is raining, but a winter storm warning is in effect, by the morning the area should see the first significant snowfall in nearly two months. Last seen in her room in september at San Francisco general. Her family has been posting fliers across San Francisco hoping to find her. But tonight they are facing the possibility that she has been here the entire time. It is frustrating to be 19 days into this. Reporter outside San Francisco General Hospital where his friend Lynn Spaulding was last seen three weeks ago, david perry wants answers for a family desperate for word. Lynns daughter is obviously traumatized. Reporter hospital staff admitted the 57yearold with an infection september 19th. A nurse saw spaulding in her hospital bed and 15 minutes later the patients cell phone was in her room and the patient was not in her bed and spaulding has not been seen or heard from since.
