Proposal for new campground rejected by municipal district

A proposal to allow a new campground has been rejected by the municipal district council. Adjacent to the Waterton Reservoir the idea was first proposed to council by the landowner in January this year. The proposal would be broken up into two phases with each phase creating 50-60 75’X85′ lots.
In order to go ahead the proposal would require a land use bylaw adamant to rezone the parcel of land from agricultural to recreation. Roland Milligan, director of development and community services who presented the recommended amendment to council at their June 8 meeting, explained the normal process would see council approve first reading to allow greater input. This would include a public hearing and input from Alberta Environment and Parks and Alberta transportation. ....

The municipal district has received a petition with 400 signatures signaling opposition to the proposed Castle Meridian Wind Facility.
The project from Clem Geo Energy would be bordered by Highway 507 to the south and Highway 11 to the east, and is expected to generate 22 Megawatts of power. According to the Clem Geo website the company is currently at the feasibility study stage with the development.

M.D. approves promotion of mask wearing, no bylaw on table

Municipal District (M.D.) of Pincher Creek council discussed the idea of creating a mandatory mask bylaw during the Tuesday, December 8 council meeting, ultimately deciding to reiterate council’s support of wearing masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
While there is no bylaw being considered at this time, the discussion came the same day the Government of Alberta announced that masks were mandatory in public indoor settings, including businesses and places of worship.
