[laughter] people were accessing for some blessings, so. let s get right to our first revvie. of 2023.est political headline i ll share a few of my own nominees to get us started. my first top news story,
today sworn in as the nation s 116th justice, and the first black woman ever to serve on the high court. her husband, dr. patrick jackson held two bibles on which she swore a family bible, and the court s harlan bible. a court federal appeals judge, jackson replaced justice stephen breyer, who stepped down today after three decades on the bench, justice breyer hired ketanji brown jackson as a clerk in 1999, making it a full circle moment when he administered the judicial oath to her today. a formal investiture for justice jackson is expected in the fall we can call her that now, justice jackson. taking her oath today allows her to begin her judicial duties. she arrives on the bench in the wake of several hugely polarizing decisions, issued by the court on abortion, gun rights, and today s ruling limiting the epa s authority to fight climate change. we are going to have much more on that ruling specifically, and on the future of the court, and its newest member just ahead. b
Israel once again hammers the gaza strip with airstrikes. According to the Israeli Military, it struck 750 hamas targets overnight, including Underground Hamas terror tunnels, military compounds and posts, as well as the homes of senior terrorist operatives. It comes as the military, the Israeli Military informs the United Nations that all Palestine Missions in northern gaza should relocate in the next 24 hours. The Israeli Military also revealing that it will continue to operate significantly in gaza city in the coming days. A un spokesperson says that amounts to more than 1 Million People and us cities and universities are on high alert after hamas calls on its supporters to hold worldwide a day of rage. Protests friday, that is today. There are mounting fears those protests could turn violent. Now for more on these latest developments, lets turn to Senior National correspondent kevin corke.
