BOC earns add l P1 5-B via post clearance audit in 2021

(File photo) MANILA - The Bureau of Customs (BOC), through its Post Clearance Audit Group (PCAG), has collected more than PHP1 billion in additional revenues last year. In a statement Monday, PCAG chief Assistant Commissioner Vincent Philip Maronilla reported that the bureau earned a total of PHP1,522,216,793.42 as part of the 349 Audit Notice Letters (ANL) issued from January to December 2021. He added that the collection is 25 percent higher than its revenue collection from the previous year. At the same time, the office is looking to legally collect more revenues from post-clearance audits with pending status from 2019 to 2021. Presently, there are 55 demand letters amounting to PHP12,468,110,546.82 which have become final and executory for the failure of the audited importers to contest the same. MANILA - Aimed at attaining more streamlined and efficient customs processes and procedures, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) developed and implemented 31 Information Communication Technology (ICT) projects and systems as of December 2021 and further aims to fully automate its frontline transactions. Foremost is the Automated Bonds Management System (ABMS) which monitors the status of bonds from their posting up to their cancellation and expedites the settlement or collection of due and demandable bonds. It is a bureau-wide system for processing bond transactions, monitoring and aging bond balances, and flagging those that have matured. The preliminary report from the Revenue Collection Monitoring Group (RCMG) showed BOC collected PHP645.765 billion as against its target of PHP616.749 billion. The 2021 collection was higher than the pre-pandemic amount of PHP630.31 billion in 2019.
