(Photo courtesy of BOC-POM) MANILA - The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Wednesday reported the recent seizure of approximately PHP1.1 billion worth of counterfeit goods inside some warehouses in Pasay City. In a statement, the bureau said a team composed of personnel from the BOC-Port of Manila and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) inspected the Baclaran Wholesale Complex located at the corner of F.B. Harrison and J. Fernando Streets in Baclaran, Pasay City on November 29. Armed with a Letter of Authority (LOA) issued by Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero, the team conducted the operation that led to the discovery of purportedly smuggled counterfeit goods. An initial inventory of the items was conducted which revealed numerous items bearing the brands Victoria's Secret, Birkenstock, Lacoste, Converse, Nike, Adidas, Jordan, Havaianas, Barbie, HP, among others. Sigmundfreud Barte Jr., BOC-Zamboanga district collector, said the smuggled produce, which consisted of 151 sacks of red onions and 121 sacks of garlic, was seized in Barangay New Labangan of Labangan town at about 10 a.m. on Thursday.
