BOC seizes P500-M smuggled goods in Cavite warehouse

(Photo courtesy of BOC-POM) MANILA - The Bureau of Customs-Port of Manila (BOC-POM) on Thursday reported the seizure of at least PHP500 million worth of smuggled goods in Cavite. In a statement, the bureau said the goods were discovered in an inspection at a warehouse located at 9172 Antero Soriano Highway, Barangay Mulawin in Tanza town on Wednesday. Armed with a letter of authority (LOA) issued by Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero, personnel from the POM's Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service Field Office (CIIS) and Enforcement and Security Service (ESS) found assorted Chinese food items and beverages, and medical protective masks inside the warehouse. They also discovered fake goods bearing signature brands such as Jordan, Nike, Crocs, and Havaianas, among others.
