TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Starting pitcher Jackson Baumeister and third baseman Cam Smith earned All-ACC recognition Monday as the league announced its end-of-year honors. Baumeister, a sophomore pitcher, was a third-team starting pitcher, while Smith was named to the All-Freshman Team. Baumeister, from Jacksonville, finished 5-5 with a 5.09 ERA and 95 strikeouts in 69.0 innings. Baumeister started all 14 weekends and finished third in the league in strikeouts and was second in the ACC and 21st nationally with 12.39 strikeouts per nine innings. He was named the ACC and National Pitcher of the Week for his 14-strikeout performance against Clemson, leading the Noles to the series-opening victory. In his final appearance of the year, Friday at Louisville, Baumeister overcame an early deficit and pitched a career-high 8.0 innings as FSU rallied from a 4-0 hole to a 7-4 win. TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Sophomore Conner Whittaker allowed just three hits and struck out seven over 8.0 scoreless innings as FSU clinched the series against Mercer with a 9-0 win Saturday afternoon at Dick Howser Stadium. Whittaker’s eight innings were the most for a Seminole pitcher this season.
At the plate, freshmen DeAmez Ross and Cam Smith hit two-run triples, while James Tibbs hit a three-run home run, his team-high 14th.
After the first two batters of the game singled against Whittaker, only three more batters reached against the right-hander: a third-inning walk, a fourth-inning single and on an error in the eighth inning. Whittaker ended the sixth, seventh and eighth innings with a strikeout.
Ross started the scoring with his first career triple, plating Colton Vincent and Nander De Sedas with two outs in the second inning. Ross has an eight-game hitting streak, a career long and tied with Jaime Ferrer for the longest active streak on the team.< ....

After Florida scored four runs in the top of the first, the Seminoles responded with five of their own to take the lead.
