The city solicitor has told Community Theatre League to vacate the third floor office space of the Joseph McDade Trade and Transit Centre I due to an unsigned lease stemming from the city’s prior administration, according to city officials. The non-profit theater group allegedly paid River Valley Transit close to $200,000 in rent to lease the third floor office space of Trade and Transit Centre I, a building at the corner of West Third and Pine streets owned by the city’s bus and transit service. While the group was told to vacate the third floor, it can remain in the first floor and basement of the Trade and Transit Centre I.

mmaroney@sungazette.com Before approving an accessible ramp construction Thursday at City Hall, City Council learned the entire ramp, automatic doors and elevator project will cost about $500,000. Council approved the ramp contract with Landserve Inc. in the amount of $164,516. That company will build the ramp at its factory, a pre-cast concrete ramp, and then it’ll be put up on the West Fourth Street side of City Hall. Original design was by Gannett-Fleming two years ago, said Jon Sander, city engineer. Some plumbing and paving will accompany the ramp construction. Stone veneer will be an add-on bid. The veneer is expected to mesh with the existing facade of City Hall, said Councilwoman Liz Miele.
