As per data accessed by Bangalore Mirror, 88 children were rescued by Railway Protection Force officials up till May. Out of the 88, 44 are from Karnataka, and the remaining from other states. In 2022, 656 children were rescued, out of which 58 were from Uttar Pradesh, 20 were from Odisha, 19 were from Madhya Pradesh, 244 were from Karnataka, 29 were from Jharkhand, 154 were from Bihar, and 44 from Assam. In 2021, 484 children were rescued and were found to be from the home states of Assam, Bihar, UP and West Bengal, apart from Karnataka. This year, a majority of the rescued children were from Bihar (194), followed by Karnataka (109).
