Premium Content Subscriber only A woman has been airlifted from a cattle property between Mackay and Rockhampton after suffering injuries in a horse fall. About 12.15pm, RACQ CQ Rescue was tasked to a large cattle property near Lotus Creek, west of St Lawrence, to airlift a woman who fell from the back of a moving horse. She reportedly suffered a broken collarbone. RACQ CQ Rescue flew the woman to Mackay Base Hospital for further treatment, arriving at 2pm. horse fall ....
Premium Content Subscriber only A Mackay man was flown to hospital following a single vehicle crash near Lake Elphinstone on Friday. The man in his 50s sustained minor injuries and indicated neck and spine pain, after the vehicle he was driving ran off the road and crashed into a ditch at high speed along Kemmis Creek Road, about 2.30pm. The vehicle ended up in a ditch off the road. A RACQ CQ Rescue spokeswoman said the incident was caused from a distraction inside the vehicle. The man was taken to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition on-board the CQ Rescue helicopter. ....
Premium Content Subscriber only A Mackay service that completes hundreds of rescue missions each year will soon call for more support from the State Government to help replace its ageing helicopter fleet. RACQ CQ Rescue chief executive Ian Rowan said the community organisation would look at trading in one of its current Bell 412 helicopters for Airbus H160s in the next two years. The new helicopters would be faster, more fuel efficient and comfortable for crew and passengers – not to mention airconditioned – something the current Bell 412s are missing. But the replacement comes with a hefty price tag between $18 and $20 million. ....
Premium Content Subscriber only Photos from the CQ Rescue crews sent to winch an injured motorbike rider from Captain’s Crossing show the dense bushland that confronted paramedics. Queensland Ambulance crews were initially called to the area about 9am Saturday with reports a motorbike rider had suffered head and chest injuries. But the rugged terrain meant ground crews were unable to get to his location where he came off his motorbike after hitting a rut near Teemburra Dam, about 66km west of Mackay. An RACQ CQ Rescue spokeswoman said Queensland Health requested the aeromedical crew and a critical care paramedic winched down to a clearing near the scene. ....
