Florida State’s Track & Field teams will be well represented at the NCAA East Regional being held at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville from Wednesday-Saturday. FSU will have 25 student-athletes competing in 20 events with 13 qualifiers from the men’s team in nine events and 12 from the women’s team in 11 events. “The old timers refer to this meet as the East Region championships, but it’s truly the first round of the NCAA National Championships,” FSU Head Coach Bob Braman said. “How you perform here sets the fields for Nationals and that’s key for getting in good lanes and the best heats and flights for the NCAA Championship in two weeks. “So, job one is to finish in the Top 12 of your event and advance to the final round in Austin, but you need to be at your best no matter what.” The East Regional is one of two in the country with qualifiers from the western portion of the U.S. competing at Sacramento State. RALEIGH, N.C. The ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships came down to the final race to determine both the men’s and women’s champions. Florida State’s men held the slimmest of leads over Clemson with only the 4x400 relay left. Unfortunately, Head Coach Bob Braman wouldn’t have his normal relay team as injuries suffered during the championship to three of the stalwarts meant FSU’s final race would have just one experienced member on the team. FSU fought, just as they had the entire meet on both the men’s and women’s side, but the fourth place relay finish was not good enough to hold onto the championship trophy and the men finished as ACC runners-up by a single point. Florida State’s track and field team had an exceptional day on Saturday at both the Texas Invitational held on the University of Texas track in Austin and the East Coast Relays held in Jacksonville, Fla. FSU won four of the eight events in which it competed along with three other top three finishes in Texas on the second day of competition and Dajaz Defrand won the women’s 100-meter at UNF.

Eugene, Ore. – Four athletes with ties to the Florida State track and field program will be representing the United States at the 2022 World Athletics Championships after qualifying at the USA Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field this past weekend. Trey Cunningham, Rachel Dincoff, and Marvin Bracy will don the Red, White, and Blue back at Hayward Field July 15-24, while Curtis Williams will head to the World Junior Championships from Aug. 1-6 in Cali, Colombia. Fresh off his NCAA title, Cunningham cruised through qualifying of the Men’s 110m Hurdles, winning heat two at 13.13. He faster in the semifinals, securing the second seed for the final at 13.09. Cunningham ran a 13.08 in the final, winning silver by one one-hundredth of a second.
