know the vast majority of the votes would go to president obama if they were able to be cast. i work on legislative issues with opening up opportunities for those involved in the criminal justice system. i ll never forget setting down with a senator. we were in the district of nine prisons, he took a look at the building and said, this is great but news are not my people. i have never had that response ever, but he was crystal clear with me. these are not my folks, meaning these are not republican votes, good luck. i m going to lose the privatization issue because it is a big issue. people of color and immigrants are of the core population. they just sent a letter to 48 state governors offering to run the prison systems for 20 years if they could be guaranteed a 90% occupancy rate. our states are spending we don t want people to miss

liquor in their state. governor bob mcdonald s looking to make changes to that. what he wants to do is sell off the state liquor stores. he says up front it could make some pretty good profits, maybe about $500 million in profits just to sell off the warehouse and all that. there s also the privatization issue. when you re in a state like virginia that fancies itself as an open market state can and market-competitive state, and by opening this up to the private sector, private stores would probably drive down the price for consumers. they would end up paying a little bit less. talked to a few consumers who were in the liquor store. they said typically they like to go across into washington, d.c. where they don t actually control the sale of liquor or the state doesn t actually own the store there. so governor bob mcdonald s hoping to get this done sometime, but the legislature but wolf to give it some would have to give it some approval, and they ve run into a road block there. jamie
