Port Austin to celebrates start of summer with kickoff event

Celebrating the start of summer and the opening of its farmers market and village green, Port Austin is hopeful that its kickoff event draws a crowd May 21-23.
The kick off features a variety of events such as a live music, marshmallow and bonfire event at Port Austin Village Green May 21; a walk-a-thon, farmers market opening, cornhole tournament and white out party at Lake Street Local May 22; and sales and specials throughout the business community all weekend.

Looking for a way to benefit the community and showcase some of Huron County’s beauty, the Summer Kickoff Walkathon scheduled for May 22 was formed.
“The proceeds are going to the new skating rink in Port Austin,” organizer Jim Roland said. “We wanted to do something nice for Port Austin. The smaller rink they put in at Gallup Park was a huge hit.”

CASEVILLE, MI - It celebrates cheeseburgers, loves ribs and is home to some of most beautiful beaches in Michigan.
It’s Caseville, and it’s the winner of Michigan’s Best Vacation Spot in Bay City & Thumb area of Michigan by MLive readers.
Known for the annual Cheeseburger in Caseville Festival each August, the tiny town of about 700 people received 22.54 percent of the vote, beating nearby Port Austin by only four votes. Bay City finished in third, but only nine votes off the top spot.
