PNA file photo MALASIQUI, Pangasinan - Some 282 families in the Ilocos Region are set to receive PHP50,000 worth of livelihood assistance grants under the Balik Probinsya Bagong Pag-asa program (BP2). Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Ilocos Region BP2 program focal person Reysa Pilotin said the families have returned to their respective localities in the provinces of Pangasinan and Ilocos Sur. "They were referred to the DSWD by their local government units (LGU) as recipients of the BP2 program," he said in a phone interview on Monday. Pilotin said these families were from Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Bicol Region, Cebu, Batangas, Laguna, Olongapo, and National Capital Region. (PHLPost) has delivered 723,524 Philippine Identification (PhilID) cards or the national ID to registrants in the Ilocos Region as of April 15. In a phone interview on Monday, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Ilocos information officer Jim Ian Bautista said of the total number, 19,380 were delivered to Ilocos Norte; 182,923 to Ilocos Sur, 205,064 to La Union; and 316,157 to Pangasinan. "The PSA partnered with Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas for card production while the PHLPost administers the door-to-door delivery," he said. He added the number included those returned to sender due to either the registrant having passed away or having moved out of his or her residence. Bautista said the delay in the delivery of some of the PhilIDs might be due to double registration or duplication so they need to validate the records at the PSA. PNA file photo MALASIQUI, Pangasinan - Some 12,386 displaced or disadvantaged workers in the Ilocos Region have earned income this first quarter of 2022 through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD), an emergency employment program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). In a statement issued on Thursday, DOLE Ilocos information officer Justin Paul Marbella said the total amount disbursed for the wages of workers reached PHP44 million. "The workers earned their wages ranging from PHP3,400 to PHP5,100," he said. The TUPAD workers rendered labor in various community projects, such as cleaning and disinfection, and greening and tree-planting activities, while the projects were done in the beneficiaries' respective barangays for a period of 10 to 15 days, he added. In a phone interview on Monday, DepEd Ilocos Region Public Affairs Unit head Cesar Bucsit said the registration is in preparation of the DepEd for the school year 2022-2023. "So DepEd could anticipate the necessary preparations like the number of chairs and other needed resources for the resumption of classes for another school year," he said.
