morning here behind me in the alley, neighbors saying it was all over a mattress. into his house. when officers arrived he refused to come out. police learned there was a 6-year-old boy inside. after trying to negotiate with the suspect, officers forcefully entered the home. 12 news cameras captured video of the man being taken into custody. also, the boy being carried safely to a squad. milwaukee police say it was never a hostage situation, but sensitive knowing a child was inside. shots fired, somebody in the house with a child not willing to come out. long. we don t want to force the incident. ben: police say they ve had little to no contact with the suspect. again, he is in custody, and will most likely face charges on milwaukee s south side, ben hutchison wisn 12 news. sheldon: investigators are looking into a serious crash that sent 3 people to the hospital. officers shut down the happened around 7:30 this morning in milwaukee. one car was reported stolen earlie ....
in the neighborhood. ben: jim hiller is hoping citizen patrol visibility deters crime. if we can improve safety, give a better perception of safety, we think the neighborhood will be better for everybody. i m available to you all, however i can be helpful. ben: alderman khalif rainey says he s willing to listen to concerned residents. what i was expecting from the alderman was a plan of action. ben: ed bullock, a former mpd officer wants to know how positive change will make its way to sherman park. we asked the alderman for an interview. we just want to know how community? i m not answering that right now, but i appreciate it. ben: he declined. right now, the residents say they ll come together and volunteer for patrols. our ultimate goal is to increase the quality of life for sherman park residents through safety. ben: they re hoping to start citizen patrols as soon as possible. volunteers must pass a police background check, live in sherman park, and be a ....
whats happened. that s our big story at four: the battle over the fence around sherman park. this weekend, county executive chris abele and sheriff clarke battled over who has ultimate control over in sherman park. yesterday, abele ordered the fence be taken down,. later in the day sheriff deputies put the fence back up. that s when a judge stepped in. fox6s jonathon gregg joins us live from sherman park and continues the story. judge david hansher had the final say it seems, ordering soon as possible. soon as possible came just before 12:30 this afternoon as a handful of parks employees arrived with flatbed trucks. they started on the north end of sherman park cutting away the orange fence and wrestling out the fence posts. this all happening while several families were grilling out and enjoying the holiday. it feels real good. everybody gets to play and be safe and have a good time on labor day. i kind of understand why they by 1:30 the entire fence was taken down ....
9. tonight s big story - return to normal. an orange fence once surrounding sherman park is now gone.. and neighbors can stay until the park closes at 10pm . but is this situation - temporary? jenna sachs is live at sherman park with more. as of tonight . you ll notice there is no orange fence here at sherman park closes . but right now all appears calm. for the second time in two days . the fence around sherman park . comes down. as it goes . its coming down. so does its reminder to neighbors .. of the unrest here three weeks ago. it makes us look like animals. we look caged in. the park has been closing early . at 6 p-m instead of 10 - since the fatal shooting of sylville smith by a the riots that followed. the orange fence was put in place . to help keep the park closed. i kinda understand why they put it up but then again the riots and all that it died down. the decision to remove the fence . was not without conflict. its unfortunate that things like this sometimes ....
