whats happened. that's our big story at four: the battle over the fence around sherman park. this weekend, county executive chris abele and sheriff clarke battled over who has ultimate control over in sherman park. yesterday, abele ordered the fence be taken down,. later in the day sheriff deputies put the fence back up. that's when a judge stepped in. fox6s jonathon gregg joins us live from sherman park and continues the story. judge david hansher had the final say it seems, ordering soon as possible.' soon as possible came just before 12:30 this afternoon as a handful of parks employees arrived with flatbed trucks. they started on the north end of sherman park cutting away the orange fence and wrestling out the fence posts. this all happening while several families were grilling out and enjoying the holiday. 'it feels real good. everybody gets to play and be safe and have a good time on labor day.' "new global destiny" is the ministry with more than two-hundred churches around the world -- putting up the pantries in various cities. founder bridget outlaw says they hope to help 300 people each day they open. well, as we learned, it hasn't always looked this great after years of wear-and-tear, the lawn area has been undergoing a years- long intense restoration project townsend says "..it was a much needed repair ... both just to sustain it for durability ... for better irrigation ... better longterm resilience." the effort started in two thousand seven and is now nearing completion. the final phases involve the mall's turf restoration. stachowicz says "..as for as construction goes, this is a huge collaboration..." the main goal of the project was to ultimately improve the park's ability to national celebrations, demonstrations and festivals and a number of other special events. townsend says "..to accomplish our fundraising goals .. the trust relies on the generous contributions of corporations such as john deer, foundations and individuals." and after years of collaborating, all teams involved are happy to report that the mall's fully restored turf should be ready and open to the public in time for their next big event. different .... what will be different is the turf is looking magnificent." on cam tag and if you want to help preserve america's front-yard -- or find out the latest events going on there -- head over to nationlmall-dot-org to learn more. in washington, lauren blanchard, fox news. our big stoy at sherman park is over, at least for now. the park is open until ten tonight.. and the orange fence cordoning it off.. is down. yesterday, milwaukee county executive chris abele ordered the fencing be taken down. but a few hours later -- milwaukee county sheriff's deputies put it back up, as ordered by sheriff david clarke. the issue resulted in a rare sunday evening court session... where a judge ordered the fencing removed once again. "i've been hearing for three weeks from the mayor, the police chief, the community, the volunteer groups, everybody, take down this fence... and that's what we did." the judge also upheld a restraining order against the sheriff -- preventing the fence from going back up -- which will remain in effect until another hearing -- set for wednesday. that's tonight's big story: the fencing match. this comes after a contentious weekend between the county executive and milwaukee county sheriff. it's also been a confusing time for those who want to use the park. fox6s jonathon gregg has been following weekend... he joins us live in sherman park. on sunday morning, abeles office ordered the fence taken down and it was. but then sheriffs deputies put the fence back up...thats when a milwaukee county judge said 'not so fast.' and you can see the barrier around labor day cookout had a different feel, 'we look caged in..' when atiana foster and her family first arrived to sherman park monday morning. 'it makes our city look bad.' an orange fence surrounded them on all sides. separating the park from the way things were. 'we still came hoping they would take it down.' at least. for the moment. 'its coming down.' shortly after 12 pm parks employees arrived wrestling away the posts. at first the parks team was working alone, 'something is going on over here.' then reinforced by the department of corrections. its been and up and down weekend for sherman park.
