9. tonight's big story - return to normal. an orange fence once surrounding sherman park is now gone.. and neighbors can stay until the park closes at 10pm . but is this situation - temporary? jenna sachs is live at sherman park with more. as of tonight ... you'll notice there is no orange fence here at sherman park closes ... but right now all appears calm. for the second time in two days ... the fence around sherman park ... comes down. as it goes ... its coming down. so does its reminder to neighbors .. of the unrest here three weeks ago. it makes us look like animals. we look caged in. the park has been closing early ... at 6 p-m instead of 10--- since the fatal shooting of sylville smith by a the riots that followed. the orange fence was put in place ... to help keep the park closed. i kinda understand why they put it up but then again the riots and all that it died down. the decision to remove the fence ... was not without conflict. its unfortunate that things like this sometimes have to be as complicated as they are. county executive chris abele says for two weeks he sent requests to the sheriffs office ... to discuss removing the fence ... but didnt get a response. we sent him a legal opinion fr which are the same lawyers who service the sheriffs department both had a written opinion saying, sheriff you dont have the authority on the curfew or the fence and that didnt get it done either. so abele ordered the fence be taken down sunday morning. hours later ... sheriffs deputies were out putting the orange fencing back up sunday afternoon. then sunday evening ... in a special session of the milwaukee county circuit the fence to come back down ... upholding a restraining order filed against the sheriff. the order remains in effect until the next hearing on wednesday. fox 6 has reached out to the sheriffs office for comment ... but has not heard back. reporting in sherman park. jenna sachs fox 6 news. steph thanks jenna dangerous water conditions ... have led sheboygan police to sh popular lake michigan pier. it's the same pier that 3 young men were swept off less than 2 months ago... two of them drowned. but as krystle kacner tells you - the warnings haven't kept everyone away today.. she joins us live from south pier. police ordered the city to put up these barricades a few hours ago.. hoping deter people from going out on the pier... it didn't work for everyone.. we saw a couple of people go out earlier today... and after what happened earlier this summer .. that didn't sit oh its awesome! its like non stop!the second matthew theobald and his friends heard the national weather service's warning for big waves on labor day.... they took the 2 hour drive to sheboygan. the bigger the better reallyon another side of the beach.. the waves were also drawing a crowd... of a different kind... when the waves are crashing like that.. is a death wish seriously a death wishonlookers like bob lafave watched in horror... i dont want to watch a guy die!!!as one man ignored police and city because of the dangerous conditions... just in july a little while ago we had 2 people 2 college kids lose their life. one sunday mid july... 3 young men in 20's were out on that pier when a wave swept them off their feet into the lake.. one was rescued.. the two others drowned. i dont know if this guy never heard of it or if he thinks thats not dangerous but that's foolish but even some that have heard of the incident say... i think its a slight over own risk... if you dont have reason to go out there dont do out there but i dont see it as highly dangerous that's how officials are asking people handle swimming in the area...with caution and at their own risk.the national weather service has issued a beach hazards statement for dangerous swimming conditions...which includes high waves.. and strong currents. as a kid as you knew to respect the lake, because it will take you, in a heart beat tickets or arresting people for violating their orders of staying off the pier... they just ope the barricades dter people.. and prevent any future accidents or tragedies.... live in sheboygan krystle kacner fox 6 news brad thanks krystle warm and muggy this evening with the temperature slowly falling into the low 70s. staying hot and humid tomorrow with highs around 90 but heat the middle 90s. there is the slight chance for t-storms, especially in the afternoon, but a better chance arrives overnight into wednesday. a few storms may be strong to severe. the chance for storms will linger into saturday morning then the sunshine returns sunday along with more pleasant air. tonight: partly cloudy, warm and 69 wind: sw 5-10 mph tuesday: partly sunny, windy, hot and humid. slight chance for t-storms late. high: 90 dewpoint: 72 wind: sw 10-20 mph wednesday:mostly cloudy, hot and humid with the chance for t-storms. am low: 73 high: 88 almost hitting a home. it started around midnight...when officers spotted a truck wanted in connection with a homicide. the driver took off...and ended up crashing into a car near 15th and capitol...stopping right next to a house. the driver -- who police believe is a homicide suspect -- ran away from the crash. officers found him hiding in a nearby yard...and he was arrested. a 23-year-old woman who was a passenger in the truck was also taken into custody. the man in the other car was taken to the police investigating a shooting on milwaukee's north west side. a man was shot in the knee near 95th and brown deer road. police say the guy was in a fight. they say he was taken back to his house on heather avenue... emergency crews picked him up and took him to the hospital. milwaukee police are also investigating a homicide on the city's north side. a 61-year-old man was shot and killed near hopkins and burleigh. it happened around 6:30 last night. police have not released any information about suspects or milwaukee county medical examiner's office says all are likely tied to drug overdoses. fox six's julie collins has more on the deadly weekend. drug abuse is a problem that has been plaguing communities in southeast wisconsin for years but recently its spiked. it was two weeks ago we first talked to alderman michael murphy.. probable overdose deaths, which had happened in 48 hours.
