Impact of school nutrition policies in California varies by children's ethnicity

California state school nutrition policies and federal policies for school meals have mixed impacts on childhood obesity in children of Pacific Islander (PI), Filipino (FI) and American Indian/Alaska native (AIAN) origins, according to a new study published this week in the open access journal
PLOS Medicine by Mika Matsuzaki of Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, USA, and colleagues.
Children of PI, FI and AIAN origin are some of the most understudied subgroups experiencing high rates of overweight/obesity. California has enacted policies on foods and beverages available in schools through a series of standards beginning in 2004, and federal policies in 2010 also sought to improve school nutrition standards. In the new study, researchers used data on demographics, body composition and fitness that were collected by the California Department of Education on students in 5th and 7th grade each year between 2002 and 2016 as part of the state Physica ....

a lot of fond memories to share. i would watch american bandstand and i would also watch every new year s eve. dick clark was the one. oh, it s the main memory of watching the new year s eve, new year s rockin eve and watching the ball drop and seeing him. even in the last couple of years post stroke, just his strength. i think that was really an amazing representation. it was like a ritual every year. new year s rockin eve, it made new year s what it is. you know? he will certainly be missed. well, on twitter immediately, dick clark became a trending topic. within just moments of the news. from ryan seacrest, clark s heir apparent, he said i m deeply saddened by the loss of my true friend, dick clark. he has truly been one of the greatest influences in my life. joan rivers wrote very sad to hear about dick clark. what a great life. what a great career. relevant until the end. he will be missed. and from snoop dogg, as expected with a lot of personality. ....
