On the roof trying to do ventilation work as fire raced through. The Fire Department telling us no one was hurt, and i had a chance to speak with a gentleman who said he owns the home and he is telling me the place was supposed to be empty. We talked with a neighbor and she described what she saw. I was driving up and they said the whole neighborhood was filled with smoke. You couldnt see anything, and it subsided a little and then it started again, only one engine was there and the others came right away. 4 reporter i spoke a short time ago with a man who said he owns this building and he said the place has been seized by bankruptcy courts, this comes a few years after the City Attorney filed a lawsuit describing this particular home as a drug house. This building went up in flames. Still very much antive fire fight with the oakland fire truck spewing water from high above. It all began at this abandoned library at 1449 miller. We have this video from passers by. It once housed the carnegie library. But its been abandoned for about 15 years. Squatters have took over the building to use drugs and engage in prostitution. There were two fires in the same building after each fire it was all boarded up and people got in each time. So far no reports of injuries.
