Reporter iain, that 18yearold suspect is now being identified by federal authorities as Nicholas Cruz. He is described as a former student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Broward County, florida. A shooting that has left multiple fatalities that number has not yet been confirm. The scene described as a horrible homicide al and detestable act. Chaotic scene unfolding as Police Respond to an active shooter at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Broward County, florida. There are numerous fatalit fatalities. Its a horrific, um, situation, um, its just a horrible day for us. Reporter suspect now in Custody Police apprehending the man about a mile and a half from the school. He is being described as a former student. Its a fluid situation as officials try to piece together school in parkland, florida. Officials say a gunman entered the school just after 3 00 oclock and opened fire prompting an immediate lock do down. Theres a lot of blood. People were dead in the halls. Reporter witnesses say the shooter was wearing a black hat a maroon shirt and black pants. At least 20 to 50 people are believed to be injured. Some people were still barricaded inside the school late into the afternoon. Good thing the door is lock. The shooter shot through the door, poked in shot a couple people next to me. I was sitting behind a cabinet and the bullet pierced my ear. She sent me videos of her crying on the floor and i saw pictures of the people shot in the hallway dead, um, it just felt helpless. Nothing i could do. I tried to get here as quick as i can and just to be there whenever they make it out. Reporter President Trump has been briefed on the shooting and tweeted his condolences to all affected. Once again, no confirmation on the number of dead tonight. But we do anticipate an update from local Law Enforcement down in in order over the next couple hours. Iain . All right, chris, thank you. Potholes youve seen them, youve hit them, some of the potholes are so bad theyre ripping cars apart. Joyce evans has been all over Delaware County checking out these potholes. Reporter the evidence, its strewn all over. Look at the husband caps here at the corner of route 291 and scott way. If one of these giant potholes doesnt get you at the intersection, right at the airport parking, another one just might. They got nasty potholes out there. Yeah, they do. Theyre everywhere. Consider yourself lucky says body shop owner john deguilio if you make it threw one of these giant holes with only a jolt or blown out tire. He and his crews see much worse. Thats pothole damage, and thats a wheel, a fender, a bumper, um, dont know what they slid into but they pitt hit a pothole with that. Reporter suspension is ripped on all of these. Stuck in a rental car for weeks. Maybe youre even responsible for repairing a car, a pothole caused you to hit. Think somebody else should be responsible . A lot of people stay away from the insurance if they dont have to use them. They just feel the rates had go up. So why report it . Reporter penndot says you should report it to them. And even submit a claim for damages. You might get some Financial Relief even though penndot says it is shielded by state law from making payments if a hole is caused by nay nature and fixed in a reasonable amount of time. Out of 1900 calls to penndot, Customer Care service says, 1300 of them are pothole related. If you just see a bad pothole call 1800 fix road or go online and report and or summit a claim. Best way, though, call penndot county maintenance in your area. Its certainly worth a try much its worth it to try to fine out if the road hazard was caused by a Construction Company. Penndot says it definitely wont be paying for it and its not going to fix it. But you could go after that Construction Company responsible for tearing up the road. Check your local permits. The outbreak is far from over and now one local school is taken extreme measures to keep students safe. Our dawn timmeney reports from northampton where the district is turning to technology. Reporter you can call the maintenance crews in the Northampton County School District germ busters these da days. Theyre now using fog machines with hospital grade disinfectant to stay ahead of of the flu outbreak. The worst in nearly a decade. The first applicator hes using is more aggressive surface type cleaner. Its used more to treat the tables, door handles, any areas any touchable surfaces. Reporter while the district is doing its usual classroom cleanings as well as extra wipe downs, the fog machines kick the cleaning and disinfecting up a knowledge. It is electro static sprayer. It makes the particles that come out of that stick to any surfa surface. Nothing is everyone hundred but were told its 99point 9 effective in killing bacteria. Reporter Lehigh Valley Medical Center in allentown so inundated with flu cases it set up tents to handlely surge with 5500 students in its sick schools the district is not ta taking any chances. It has two portable fog machines and a plug in version which has a broader finer spray to court entire room. Reporter the superintendent says theyve only been using the fog machines for several weeks now and they seem to be making a difference. Weapons trafficking ring bustebusted in new jersey thanko state and local authorities in camden. Seven people are now facing charges involving guns coming into new jersey from ohio. Iain, crime has dropped in camden since a county based police force has linked officers to the community but today new jerseys attorney general argued the flow of illegal guns into camden must be stopped for that community to ever fully find piece. New jerseys attorney general says highpowered lethal weapons were bought out of state, loaded into private vehicles and hauled to the streets of camden where they ended up in the hands of criminals. Unfortunately, the residents of this city are all too familiar with the misery that these Deadly Weapons can inflict when put in the hands of gang members, drug dealers and other violent criminals. Reporter the investigation started in mid 2016 when Law Enforcement learned 40yearold Eduardo Caban of camden was allegedly moving heroin and guns on the streets of the city caban trafficked in ten guns say investigators and concluding assault rivals and pistols many with highcapacity magazines allowing the firing of scores of bullets at once. The guns were traced back to ohio say investigators. Where they had been purchased in columbus area gun stores or online. These dangers will remain as long as criminals have easy access to the type of lethal firearms trafficked by these seven defendants. Reporter investigators say the ringleader Social Security 25yearold chuckie scott of columbus who working with 26yearold Anthony Hammond also of ohio would buy the guns and text pictures of the weapons to camden where middle men in the south jersey city would locate buyers. Seven men have been indicted and charged with racketeering, allegedly running a gun ring which endangered the innocent in camden, new jersey. Simply put, each gun that we seize or take off the street is a life or multiple lives that we safe in the process. South jersey Girls Basketball star scored her 1,000th point in varsity competition this afternoon. Whats more impressive shes just a junior. Even more impressive, basketball is even her first love. This afternoon haley was queen of the court. Wells fargo center seemed the appropriate venue for this Girls High School basketball game between the riverside rams and the jaguars of medford tech. Thats because riverside junior Haley Russell entered the game needing just nine points to tally a thousand for her career. Like many great athletes haley gave the credit to family and her teammates. With ally hard work, um, and them pushing me to be better, thats the reason why im here report roar scoring a thousand points in a High School Career is quite an accomplishment hitting the milestone well before youre a senior year is even more impressive. But haleys coach says her offensive skills are only part of the package. Ive never had a player in my 30 plus years of coaching able to take a ball away from good ball handlers at the drop of hat her defense. Unbelievably talented oneonone defender. Reporter by the way haley also plays softball and soccer. Boy does she play soccer. Scored 60 goals in 19 games last fall to lead all new Jersey High School players. Haleys mom terry was in the crowd shes a member of riverside sports hall of fame. Haleys older sister ashley played for the rams and her twin hannah, well, thats her on the receiving end of a haley assist. Lets just say the blood lines were there. Ive been hearing about her since she was six, seven years old. And she came to high school and when she hasnt disappointed. Haley was get herring points in this contest. Mainly overnight tonight but look at the temperatures. Well hold pretty steady in the upper 40s well above average. High temperatures today made it into the low 50s. So you can see the cloud cover on the horizon and also off to the west around pittsburgh, also charleston, west virginia, the upper ohio river valley looking at those showers. Light showers moving in from west to east. We might pick up a tenth to. 20 of an inch before all is said and done. Uniform temperatures right now mid to upper 40s. Any indicator that someone is going through a behavioral change or social media that disturbing photos perhaps bombs or firearms or just, you know, videos or pictures that are just not right that theres somethi something, please make sure Law Enforcement knows about it. And guantanimo to began to dissect his web sites and some of the things that come to find very very disturbing. Does he have wounds, injuries . What can you tell us about him . He maybe a former student. Hes 19 years old. He was born in 1998 in september. He was a former student of Douglas High School. He got expelled for disciplinary reasons. I dont know the specifics. I think he might have surfaced at tara villa high school. Were still trying to confirm that and this morning when he woke up whether he was student or not i dont know. Did you speak to the number of weapons he either had and whether or not weve heard fire alarm was pulled off. Was that in ants paying of the shooting take place . I dont know anything about the fire alarm at this point. He had countless magazines. Multiple magazines, and at this point we believe he had 1ar15 rival. I dont know if he had a second one. Can you speak to the fire alarm that was pulled . I know nothing about it. Did he say anything when he was apprehended and he was taken to Broward Health north, what were his injuries and how did he get them . I think he left Broward General north. I dont think his injuries were anything significant. I believe hes arrive at the Public Safety building. The investigation will continue. I will keep Broward County informed. Anything that we uncover, anything thats important well part to the media. We will i know it look a long night for all of us.
