has moved back to much more normalcy than the united states, and other parts of europe. if you don t have normalcy, that attributes to inflation. people aren t working as much. it is harder to get goods out. the fed matters, but i also think the other thing that matters for addressing inflation is starting to move back to some form of normalcy, where, you know, time square looks even more normal than it was. david, thank you so much for being with us, as always. great to have you here. eddie glaude, i just got a text from a friend who brought up a great point. it is a point that reveals my new york city bias. because, of course, we only talk about east coast baseball teams and, too often, we only focus on crime in new york city or other major cities on the east coast. but my friend texted and said,
one of the things that was misleading about what he said is, you know, there is these progressive prosecutors who are letting out what we do know, crime can be a fuzzy character, but just talk about interpersonal violence, which i think is a more concrete conversation. we know that they re up in a strikingly uniform way across large cities in small cities, across cities in and very liberal ones, so there s something happening. there s a real thing happening, it is happening across some of these policy lines. how do you understand what s happening? i think this conversations and not just by republicans, will largely by republicans. to indicate that this is a lack of police for prosecutors, but what i think is happening, and what i think is a lot of people who think about the system holistically can see, we re in the middle of a pandemic. we ve dealt with unprecedented and isolation, uncertainty
kids aren t in school, people aren t working, unemployment went up drastically, almost two years ago, which is a shocking amount of time. we re in a deep societal flux, and it s not surprising to me, that in a country that doesn t provide the social services that people need, that crime has gone up, right? what ted cruz wants you to think, nino morrison is having an impact on crime rates. it s news to me that public lawyers have that much social power. the truth is, the reality is that criminal justice solutions are back and solutions. by the time the prosecutors released, or an officer gets revolved, something is already happened, right? an accusation has been made, a hard has been caused. will we know addresses crime we know this, right, this is
downtowns again with people working. so that people can feel safe and begin to work to their offices. we are doing that here in the federal government. the vast majority of federal workers are once again working in person. but do they want to? it is not that people aren t working. when you think about the federal government, you ve got scores of people that are working from home and want to stay that way. what do you think is the future going to be? i think the president made pretty clear tonight that he wants people to get back to the office. and i think that the good news with taking off of our masks and that was a great turn of the page moment i think we would all agree. being together in the chamber that way. and weather making sure kids are in school. in new jersey next week, going to be go mask free. but also go back to the office and ensure that our communities can thrive and prosper. i think that is very important. and just like he talked about other accomplishments like in
iranians, whether the saudis, whether venezuela, who by the way are going to use that money to take action negative action against americans. it is an insult and its national security suicide to boot, and the american people, certainly in my state, recognizing it. laura: insults i wouldn t call it a mistake and i wouldn t call them insult i love you both, but i think there s much more going on. i think the idea of lowering americans expectations, lowering america s standard of living, that s why they like the lockdowns, because everyone was staying at home, ordering on netflix, whatever they are doing, you know, tending to their herb gardens. that was fine. they didn t travel, the air was clean, although satellite images, that is nirvana for them, when people aren t working and things are you re just slowing down. if they love that. they were never happier than during the lockdown but i digress, because the bike demonstration does have a solution to high gas prices, courtesy
