suspect in a string of car thefts. they had a witness as describing the suspect as wearing neon shorts and a white shirt. that s when they saw the boy deshawn and detained him since he was wearing similar clothing and was in the same apartment complex as where witnesses saw that suspect running off to. the chief here has issued an apology. here s part of the statement he put out, saying, as the chief of police, i want to apologize this incident had such an effect on this young man and his family. i m asking the community to consider all of the facts of the situation before making a judgment. the relationship with our community has been and will continue to be a top priority for the lansing police department. meanwhile, the bernard family have retains an attorney. the attorney claims the boy was wearing a gray shirt, not a white shirt and that the police should have also seen there was a noticeable age difference between the boy, 12 years old, and their suspect. they are ....
