bill belichick for over two decades of football college. a new college football champion will be named champions, the washington huskies and michigan are set to square off in the title game at 6:30 p.m. eastern. it should be a good one. time for the weather. let s go to michelle grossman. we had severe weather on the east coast over the weekend. any more on the horizon? we have wicked weather over the next couple of days. some will see some snow in the plains. the northeast it s going to be mainly a rain event, but it s going to be heavy, heavy rain. parts of northern new england could see snow. this is what it looks like on radar. you can see some snow falling. that s in the blue. even storms in the southern plains. we ll watch for storms in houston. i know they have a retractable roof. we could see strong storms if not severe storms. we also have to watch for nighttime tornadoes. that s going to be a big story as we go throughout the later part of this monday.
are seeing heavy rain falling. this is what it looks like on radar. where you see this brightest colors, reds and oranges and yellows, we are seeing the rain falling and look at some lightning too. severe weather concerns and that tornado watch for portions of the northeast as well into new england. taking a look at this map you can see how quickly it is moving. sort of trading over the same areas. what s that means the same area over and over and over again. we re seeing five or six inches of rain in the same spots. we re looking at this bright colors again telling us where the heavy rain is falling. a lot of the northeast into new england mid-atlantic seeing some very heavy rain. where you see those pink lines those outlines is a tornado watch which extends to portions of new england into the northeast and also the mid-atlantic. this is not until 3:00. so we re going to continue to watch. that this is the severe weather threat is not just the northeast. we re talking with the plane
it s sort of going to park in the south, that s where we re going to see rain over this area for several days red over corpus christi, that s a flash flood warning. that means flooding is happening right now or it s imminent we re going to see them popping in and out throughout the day and over the next several days this is what it looks like on radar. you can clearly see where that heavy rain is. where you see those brighter colors, the oranges and yellows and reds that s riding right along the front there. we re looking at a lot of lightning on the southern end of this cold front. that s because we still have ha l lot of energy. we re going to see some thunderstorms in the mid-atlantic by this afternoon and this evening concern about a flash flood risk in portions of the south into the gulf coast states because of those high fall rainfall rates, especially are whwhere you see t dark blue. austin, san antonio, and also corpus christi look at these amounts. we re looking up to 6 inches
very dry on the warm side, a chance for more severe storms this is what it looks like on radar. out to the west where you see the blue, that s the storm take shape. we have rain, storms in portions of the gulf coast and into southeast. that s a separate system but still bringing strong thunderstorms this morning we have the threat for tornadoes there as we go throughout the afternoon hours. so where you see the pink, that s the chance for tornadoes. that s a tornado watch over the next hour and a half or so this is the storm system we re concerned about for the next few days, it will bring feet of snow in portions of the rockies, portions of the dakotas, the upper midwest. we ll be measuring feet of snow there, blizzard conditions looking for chance of severe storms in the ohio valley down into the deep south. texas to ohio blizzard like conditions this is a strong, strong storm lots of electricity. jose, we ll keep our eyes on this over the next 24 hours.
