batteries and pet food you ll need for the next few days. let s bring in nbc news meteorologist michelle grossman. on the heels of what he was saying, i went to the grocery store yesterday it was packed and we re not expecting it in new york until sunday night into monday. i know, yeah, i did too. i said that to my daughter, we had that feel like you knew that snowstorm was coming. depending on where you are, we re going to see heavy rain, heavy snow, sleet, freezing rain, we could see severe weather, and we have those brutal windchills out there. we have it all over the next several days. we saw 11 inches of snow in some spots in iowa yesterday. taking a look at the maps, we have 66 million people impacted by these winter storm alerts. we have warnings, watches, advisories, and even that ice storm warning. that s going to be the biggest problem in terms of travel. here s what it looks like on radar. you see the blue. that s where the snow is, even some white there. you also see a
three-part concern, scenario, we re looking at the snow, yeah, we can see three feet in some spots. we re looking at winds at hurricane force speed so we had an 80-mile-per-hour wind gusts in parts of massachusetts that knocked out a gauge. really ferocious winds and coastal flooding. we had video earlier of inland flooding so there s a lot of going with this system. it s a typical nor easter with those strong winds coming out of the northeast and we still have several hours of really terrible weather in parts of new england. so this is what it looks like right now. we notice the banner, 2022 blizzard, and it has met blizzard criteria, which, by the way, is pretty difficult to do. we met that criteria in parts of new jersey, parts of connecticut, parts of new york and no doubt we re going to meet that in massachusetts, and we re seeing blizzard-like conditions right now. so this is what it looks like on radar. you can see lots of blue. it s a huge storm. it s a powerful storm. it s dro
electors, when did you become aware of that plan? that s not part of my remit or on radar. my focus was on the green bay sweep plan. so as a prosecutor, walk us through your reaction, because when he said sweep, he s referring to the arrangements around getting the cooperations as he put it on january 6, but it is also now known that cooperation might have been increased by the manufacturing of a fake controversy or supposedly dueling electors which seems at least overlapping coincidentally with what he s working on. how do you look at that? if you look at first words out of his mouth to you, he said that green bay sweep scheme was within the four corners of the law. and since he implied that he
impact over the next several hours. in terms of additional snowfall, so much so far, up to 15 inches in some spots. they re not used to it there, and really, this whole season, they have had the most snow compared to the inland parts of new jersey, also pennsylvania. so as we re looking at boston, we re expecting up to 2 feet of snow. that could break some records. we may make it into the top five in terms of the biggest snowstorms on record, but that s something we re going to have to watch over the next several hours. this is what it looks like on radar. it s big, stretching from parts of new jersey all the way up through new england. where you see the white there, that s the heaviest snow falling, still over long island, into rhode island, cape cod, martha s vineyard, nantucket, heavy snow, and off the coast of maine, looking at heavy snow as well, and we re looking at gusty winds, seeing winds gusting at hurricane force winds and that s going to bring down power lines. it has cause
really, kim, it s going to lay the groundwork for a complex, dynamic storm system to evolve over the next two to three days. in fact, we have our winter weather alerts stretching from minneapolis all the way to portland. and this is what it looks like on radar. not too impressive just yet, but it s gathering steam. check out this video of what is called a snow squall. coming from the midwest, growing up in the snow belt of lake michigan, downwind from lake michigan, we saw snow that dropped visibilities from 10 miles to under a couple of feet in a matter of seconds. that is known as a snow squall. it happens, it s very dangerous, especially when you re traveling on that. and that s what people had to deal with across the northeast. no problems for new england today. you ve cleared out nicely. high pressure in control of the weather. but it s really this weather maker that s located across the northern portions of our country that will be the next major concern going forward. it will
