OGLESBY – The Oglesby Police Department is reminding residents to keep their vehicle and garages locked after attempted burglaries over the weekend. According to police, the area of the reported burglaries occurred between West 1st and 2nd Street as well as East 1st and 2nd street on Saturday night. Police will be conducting extra patrols of the area but want to remind everyone to keep their homes, garages, and cars locked at all times. Commissioner of Public Property, Parks, Ambulance, Fire, Human Resources Carrie Lijewski gave the oath of office to Leininger in front of the Mayor and the Oglesby City Council. Commissioner Lijewski also announced that the Oglesby Police Department has earned a Federal Use of Force certification from the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police.
