Or better yet, let’s call it what it is: Utterly undemocratic. County Election Board members Joyce Dombroski-Gebhardt and Keith Gould - both Republicans - made a mockery of their solemn duties and turned Luzerne County election governance into an autocratic, lawless troika of self-serving GOP wingnuts when they ignored advice of an attorney paid to guide them and appointed County Councilman Stephen J. Urban as new board chairman. To be perfectly clear, this has absolutely nothing to do with which party these three scofflaws belong to. Their action, and their mealy-mouthed, hubris-filled justification for the unjustifiable, would be reprehensible regardless of political affiliation. ....
According to investigators, the children were left home alone with two loaded guns. Critics of the charges say the 12-year-old is not to blame and that there are other ways to help the child other than putting him through the system. Krasner indicated that it was a safety issue. One assumption is that if a juvenile is charged, the juvenile is in custody. Well that s not necessarily true. Another assumption is that if a juvenile is charged the purpose is to convict. That is often not true at all. The purpose is to instead provide services to save the life of the child, said Krasner. ....
