Last Thursday, 16-year-old Kahree Simmons was shot and killed on the basketball court at 55th and Christian streets. Two other teens were wounded in the shooting. The shooter is still at large.
Detectives say there s no new update on the case, but for now, grandmothers like Ms. Gee say her little ones won t be playing there.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) We are Philly Proud of a Germantown man who has dedicated his career and life to fighting gun violence.
Scott Charles holds the title of trauma outreach manager at Temple University Hospital, and sadly several family traumas involving gun violence put him on the path to get there.
You only need to see a child who has been a victim of gun violence once to really understand how important this is, he said.
Charles said that just last year alone, 299 school-aged children suffered gunshot injuries in Philadelphia. ....

Kensington double shooting leaves man in critical condition, woman stable

The shooting happened around midnight Sunday on the 1800 block of East Wesley Avenue, near Kensington Avenue.
Police said a 24-year-old man and 26-year-old woman were struck.
They were both taken to the hospital.
Police said the man is listed as critical. The woman is stable.

West Philadelphia confrontation: Woman stabbed several times, shots fired on Jefferson Street

PHILADELPIHA (WPVI) A woman is in critical condition after a violent chain of events in West Philadelphia.
Police said they were initially called to the 5500 block of Jefferson Street at 2 a.m. Sunday for a report of a shooting.
Arriving officers found shell casings at the scene but no victim.
They soon discovered a woman had been dropped off at the hospital suffering from several stab wounds to the head. She was listed in critical condition.
According to investigators, the woman and a man got into a confrontation with a group of men on Jefferson Street.
During the confrontation, police said the woman was stabbed. ....
