(File photo) MUMBAI: The special Prevention of Money Laundering (Act) court on Thursday said that the non-bailable warrants issued against fugitive Nirav Modi’s Belgium-based sister Purvi Mehta and her husband Maiank Mehta will be kept in abeyance till further orders. The case will come up for hearing on April 12. The court had issued non-bailable warrants against the couple in 2018. A red corner notice was also issued against Purvi by the Interpol.

Purvi Modi, Nirav Modi s younger sister, is a Belgian national while her husband Maiank Mehta is a British citizen. Both were earlier named as accused in the case, but last month the PMLA court here accepted their plea for turning approver (prosecution witness) in the case and getting pardon.

(File photo) MUMBAI: In a significant fallout of diamantaire Nirav Modi s sister Purvi and her husband Maiank Mehta turning approvers, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) will be able to recover Rs 580 crore through auction of their attached properties and money lying in their bank accounts without any legal hassle, sources said. The duo turning witnesses against Nirav bolsters the ED case against the diamantaire, who along with his uncle Mehul Choksi, defrauded Punjab National Bank (PNB) of Rs 13,000 crore through forged letters of undertaking, in connivance with the bank officials. They laundered the defrauded money abroad through large-scale fraudulent imports and exports of jewellery and diamonds.
