Care home approved on former pub site

CITY councillors have approved revised plans for a new care home in Otterbourne. Barchester Healthcare applied to alter permission for a 62-bedroom facility and nurses accommodation on the site of the demolished Captain Barnard public house on Otterbourne Road. That scheme was approved in February and now Barchester has applied to add two bedroom and remove the nurses accommodation and provide 21 parking spaces. Planning officer Verity Murphy told the planning committee that the overall height had been reduced and the new plan was similar in design and scale to the one most recently approved. Two mature trees on site will be retained.
