live from the kgo tv broadcast center, this is abc 7 news. a legend both on the court and off passed away. warriors hall of famer, nate thurmond, is being remembered as one of the greatest basketball players of all-time and a man of grace and dignity to all of us here at abc 7. thurmond was chosen as 1 of the 50 greatest in nba history. he lost his battle with leukemia. he was 74. he joined larry beil as an analyst on after the game. larry looks back at a life of an nba legend. nate thurmond had no trouble living up to the nickname big nate. born in akron, ohio, nate thurmond was a force in college in bowling green, drafted third overall by the warriors in the 1963 nba draft, a big man who rebounded and blocked shots, playing along side greats like rick barry and wilt chamberlain and more than held his own against legends like abdul jabar. if you look at what he gave to the teams he played for, i feel he is one of the greatest ever to play the game. a seven-time all-
