168 cases settled by National Lok Adalat benches in Nagaland

Dimapur, February 12 (MExN): As many as 168 cases out of 237 that were listed were disposed off during the National Lok Adalat in 11 District Headquarters of Nagaland on February 11.

Legal authorities conduct awareness campaigns across Nagaland

Dimapur, Nov. 15 (EMN): District Legal Services Authorities (DLSA) under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) and direction of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) carried out the ‘Haq humara bhi to hai@75’ in various districts of the state. ‘Haq humara bhi to hai@75’ is a campaign for providing basic legal assistance to persons confined in prisons and child care institutions, an update stated. It is a pan India campaign for bridging the gap between the institutions and the underprivileged by spreading legal awareness and ensuring delivery of legal entitlements to eligible beneficiaries to commemorate the 75th year of Independence. The campaigns culminated on November 13. NSLSA to conduct Lok Adalat on Nov. 12 - Eastern Mirror

Dimapur, Nov. 6 (EMN): Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) will conduct the 4th quarterly and final National Lok Adalat (people’s courts) for 2022-2023 in all the district headquarters on November 12. An update from NSLSA informed that a total of 12 Lok Adalat benches at District Court premises and High Court Legal Services Committee (HCLSC) would be set up by the district legal services authority (DLSA) and HCLSA. It mentioned that Lok Adalat is one of the alternative dispute redressal mechanisms and a forum where cases pending in the court of law or at pre-litigation stage are settled or compromised speedily and amicably. It added that National Lok Adalat is held on a quarterly basis and has benefited the citizens with the privilege of settling disputes at free of cost all across the state. Child-friendly zone launched at Phek district court

Dimapur, Oct. 16 (EMN): Justice Lanusungkum Jamir of Guahati High Court, Kohima bench, inaugurated the Child-Friendly Zone and e-Sewa Kendra at District Court Complex, Phek, on October 15. Jamir, who is also executive chairman of Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA), in his inaugural address, appreciated the deputy commission of Phek for helping in setting up the child-friendly zone through PBPB Scheme, an updated stated. The judge also thanked the chairperson of Phek DLSA for making the child-friendly zone a success. He stated that the child victim of sexual abuse goes through physical and psychological trauma. She also goes through the process of law where she has to appear in the court in the presence of the accused person, witnesses and lawyer, which have another psychological impact on her.
