Next 20 days crucial for curbing corona: Dr Yasmin Rashid

LAHORE:Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid visited Expo Vaccination Centre here Thursday.
Present on the occasion were Deputy Secretary and Project Director Ahmer Khan. The Health Minister took feedback from citizens at Expo Centre to get themselves vaccinated. Ahmer Khan gave a presentation to the health minister about the arrangements.
The heath minister said, “In the last 24 hours, more than 94,000 people have been vaccinated. We are enhancing the number of vaccination centres in Punjab. The decision of lockdown from 8th May is in best interest of people. Next 20 days will be critical to corona control efforts. I request people to be careful about the pandemic. The vaccination staff has been doubled at centres, she added. Alhumdulllah, we are going at fairly faster pace, faster than all provinces. We have vaccinated more than 1.6 million people in Punjab. LAHORE: Around 7,381 beds have been reserved in all government hospitals for COVID-19 patients out of which 4,391 beds are unoccupied.
In a handout issued on Friday, Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department, (SHC&MED) Punjab Secretary Nabeel Ahmed Awan further said that 1,623 beds were reserved in government hospitals of the provincial metropolis and of these 829 beds were vacant so far. He said that in view of the surging corona pandemic, the department had arranged 3,373 beds in isolation wards of all government hospitals in the province, out of which, 2,450 beds were vacant. ....

LAHORE:The Chief Secretary Punjab on Friday directed the Provincial Healthcare Commission to carry out monitoring of the treatment of corona patients in private hospitals and ensure that medical facilities are being provided to them at the fixed charges on the allocated beds.
He gave this direction while presiding over a meeting at the Civil Secretariat. The meeting reviewed the situation of coronavirus in the province, treatment facilities for the patients and supply of oxygen in the hospitals. The Additional Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) and senior civil and military officials attended the meeting. The divisional commissioners and RPOs briefed the meeting on the implementation of SOPs through video link. ....

LAHORE:Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said here on Wednesday that vaccination of above 50 age group is going on at full pace and more than 115,000 between the age group of 59-60 were vaccinated.
The minister said a day earlier, more than 40,000 citizens were vaccinated in all centres. Dr Yasmin Rashid said that the process flow is being closely monitored and more vaccination counters are being added.
She said more vaccination centres will be added as citizens are turning up in overwhelming numbers at centres. She said adequate amount of vaccine is available for citizens. She said the number of patients is being increased. People are requested to follow SOPs. She said uninterrupted vaccine supply is being ensured at all centres. For any queries, she added, people may call up 1033. ....
