Thalassemia patients being provided free treatment: Yasmin

LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said that creating awareness about the disease is the need of the hour. No previous government even thought of the plight of Thalassemia patients. “Its treatment was very costly in the past but now the government is providing free treatment to Thalassemia patients,” she was speaking as chief guest at a ceremony organised by Thalassemia Federation Pakistan and Sundas Foundation at Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday.

LAHORE: Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has directed the district health authorities of sensitive districts, especially Lahore and Rawalpindi to enhance dengue surveillance. She issued these directions in a cabinet committee meeting at Civil Secretariat here on Thursday. Dr Yasmin Rashid said dengue surveillance was being monitored strictly in the province. She added districts not reporting dengue larva cases had been asked to do so.
All institutions must share their reports with Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department. All CEOs must partner with civil administration to ensure dengue prevention activities, she said and added targeted operations would be conducted to control dengue. The minister warned that no negligence shall be tolerated on dengue prevention. The administration will have to stay alert on dengue prevention, she said and added the government was undertaking third party eva ....

LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid visited Expo Vaccination Centre here Thursday. Present on the occasion were Deputy Secretary and Project Director Ahmer Khan. The Health Minister took feedback from citizens at Expo Centre to get themselves vaccinated. Ahmer Khan gave a presentation to the health minister about the arrangements.
The heath minister said, “In the last 24 hours, more than 94,000 people have been vaccinated. We are enhancing the number of vaccination centres in Punjab. The decision of lockdown from 8th May is in best interest of people. Next 20 days will be critical to corona control efforts. I request people to be careful about the pandemic. The vaccination staff has been doubled at centres, she added. Alhumdulllah, we are going at fairly faster pace, faster than all provinces. We have vaccinated more than 1.6 million people in Punjab.
